Concussion/Brain Injury
Our team is vestibular and concussion certified through The American Institute of Balance, and we are experts. We understand that life post-concussion can alter in an instant after a concussion or a brain injury. In some cases, a mild concussion can drag on for weeks and present like a moderate brain injury.
Post-Concussion Syndrome can debilitate clients and affect every aspect of daily life. Brain injuries change not just the body but the mind and even the personality of some people. Adjusting to the changes of brain injuries, no matter the source or the level of severity, takes a team of experts to help clients properly navigate through the rehabilitation process.
Concussions specifically, require a meticulous concussion protocol and team approach that looks carefully at developing an individual treatment program that establishes thresholds for 1) anxiety and anxiety provoking activities, 2) heart rate (using the Buffalo Treadmill Test), and 3) cognitive load restrictions.
Our team of experts will empower our clients to understand their symptoms and triggers and will create a unique plan to help them progress through the rehabilitation process. We understand that in the midst of a brain injury or a concussion, that sights, sounds, and smells suddenly might be overwhelming. Some people experience intense anxiety and mental fogginess. There are visual changes, dizziness, and balance challenges.
Many people simply feel misunderstood and not themselves. Our Galaxy team is here to help because we understand what you are going through and know how to skillfully guide you to overcome these challenges. We work with brain injury overcomers to help them understand the signs and symptoms they experience, how to track them, and then how to compensate for these new sensations while working to remediate the problems.
We even have our front office staff trained to recognize when you might need the lights dimmed, or when you might need a quiet room to rest in.
We will take care of you from start to finish.
